Sura puttu/Shark fish puttu
This is my
grandmother i.e. ammamma’s recipe. This dish of her’s is everyone’s favorite.
Though I cannot prepare it like her, I can prepare to a version close to hers.
The shark
fish is shredded and fried with spices which make a final dish similar to puttu
(Kerala dish).
Ingredients Required:
1 small
shark fish: about 1-1.5 kg sliced
1 big onion:
finely chopped
Garlic: 7-8
cloves
Greenchilli:
5 numbers
Crushed pepper:
2 tsps.
Turmeric: 1
tsp
Chilli powder:
1 tsp
Oil: 2 tbsp.
(olive /sunflower/any cooking oil)
Salt as
required
Method:
Wash the
fish well in running water for more than 2 times.
Boil water
in a vessel, with half tsp turmeric powder.
Add sliced
fish pieces and boil well till the fish is cooked.
Cool them and
one by one break the fish pieces in hand and remove the small bones in it.
Add
required salt, ½ tsp turmeric powder, chilli powder, pepper powder/Crushed
pepper to the broken fish and mix well.
In a pan,
add 2 tbsp. oil, add onions, garlic, green-chilli and fry well till onion turns
translucent.
Add fish mixture
and keep stirring.
Fry well
till the fish turns golden brown.
Serve with Rice
and curry.
Goes very
well with rasam rice, sambar rice.
Tip: I used nonstick pan and hence didn’t require
more oil for roasting.
