New York Tour Day 8 & 9 :Local shopping, Little Island, Times Square, Madame Tussards
We had covered all the places we wanted to visit except the Little Island. So, we planned to visit the Vessel and then walk towards the Little Island.
Before boarding the subway train at Main Street, we wanted to do some street shopping, but there was nothing worth even having a look. Then we saw Macys and we did some random enquiries. Later we reached the Vessel, we saw that entry into the vessel was allowed (only the lower level). So entered the vessel, clicked few pictures, then walked towards the Little Island through the bridge. The bridge itself is long the view along the bridge with flower gardens and Japanese Blossom were too beautiful. There was a little area decorated with pink Flowers for Victoria Secrets New Fragrance Unveil Event called Pink Bomb. So, we clicked many pictures along the way. People were also having small picnics with lunch boxes along the bridge. We crossed the road and reached the Little Island. This was another beautiful Garden with Beautiful and variety of colourful flowers. There was a small Theatre arena for events, a musical piano, that can be played by jumping on it. There are also beautiful views of Manhattan and some beautiful swirling boards for capturing videos.Instead of walking back to Hudson yards to take the train, we relied entirely upon Google Maps, took the train, and changed lines at Grand Central and reached Fifth Avenue. We wanted to do some souvenir shopping. We bought 2 souvenirs at New York Gifts, there are many stores of the same chain in Fifth Avenue. Later we had lunch at Chipotle. Prices seemed to be costlier than the price near the highway. Then we walked towards Times Square. On the way we spotted the biggest Macy’s store. So, we spent some time doing window shopping. Later we reached Times Square. We visited Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. We had been to Madame Tussauds at Hong Kong, I found that to be better than the New York one. A 4D movie was included with the ticket. Movie experience in 4d with sound, air, water, even some pressure from the seats was extraordinary. Entrance tickets were priced at 48$ including taxes. There were not many Indian Celebrities. After going around, we returned to Times Square to click more pictures. We waited till it got dark. We were told to go to Red Staircase for a good view. After seeing all the hustle and bustle and living the life of Times Square for few minutes, we returned in train to hotel.
Day 9: Shopping, Flight
Next day was our return flight at night, so we had to leave for the airport early evening.
We went to Macys at Flushing for Shopping. We made some purchases. If you want to make Dress purchases, you can visit the HR Department in the store to get a voucher for 10% Discount using your passport. There is discount for US Citizens who make a new card at the store while purchasing. Returned to hotel, checked out and left to my cousin’s place. We also visited another Family Friend nearby. We also had been to Sai Baba Temple at Flushing again.
We left for the airport a little later than we planned. There was rain and traffic on the way. But we reached on time.
Thus, our small, quick, unplanned New York Trip was over.
