PARUPPU ADAI (LENTIL CREPES)
PARUPPU ADAI (LENTIL CREPES)
Paruppu adai is an authentic south Indian Breakfast dish. This is also fondly eaten for Dinner, evening tiffin .This dish is loaded with proteins due to the presence of 5 types of dal (lentils).
I have included millets and greens to make it even more healthier .
Lets see the ingredients and the recipe for the same.

Serves : 4-5 persons
5 types of dal:(Toor dal, channa dal, urad dal, masoor dal, moong dal ) : 1 cup
Idli rice : 1 cup
Fenugreek (methi seeds) : 1 tsp
Salt as required
Kambu /Pearl millet : 1/2 cup
Ginger :2 inch piece
Garlic : 10 cloves
Dry Red chillies : 7 nos.
Grated coconut : 1/2 cup
Cinnamon: 1 inch piece
Clove : 4 nos.
Methi leaves/Fenugreek leaves or Drumstick leaves: 1 cup washed and finely chopped
Onion Finely chopped : 1/2 cup
Oil : 10 tsp
Method:
Soak rice, dal, methi seeds, millets all in 1 bowl in water for atleast 3-4 hours.
Drain the water and grind all of them together to a smooth paste.
Then add Ginger, garlic, red chillies, coconut, clove, cinnamon, salt to the mixie and grind till everything is ground and mixed well with the batter.
Add the chopped greens to the batter and mix well. Add enough water till the batter is like pancake mix consistency.
Heat a tava or a nice flat pan, spread 1 tsp oil .
Sprinkle some onion pieces on the crepe.Cover with a lid and cook for 2 minutes, till the crepe is golden brown.
Serving Suggestions:
Crepe is usually served with Jaggery (Brown sugar) , avial (mixed vegetable coconut curry) , coconut chutney, salted butter .
My favorite of all the side dish is salted butter.
