KENYA MASAIMARA DAY 2

After some good rest,  we  had breakfast at the hotel and left for  a full day game drive. Our driver Joseph is a free Lancer. He seemed to know about birds and animals. He seemed the right and best guide we could have. Our tour was booked with bonfire tours. The vehicles had a walkie talkie system,  so as soon as one of the drivers spot some animal or  an event,  it is informed to other drivers. This way everyone gets a chance to see many rare sights.

Our driver had arranged for picnic lunch for us and so the hotel had packed lunch boxes for us to carry.  It had yoghurt,  fruit juice,  fruits, pastries,  tea cakes.

The hotel is in the  middle of the national park and you can see the park from the room  balconies.

Also Rock hyrax  and  baboons  were seen everywhere  outside the rooms.

As we started our second day game drive, we  saw many birds ,  to name a few :

Ring Headed Clover

Egyptian Geese

Starling

Ground Hornbill

Eurasian Roller

Pupette

Black Belly Busterd

Hammercock

Secretary

Gini Fowl

Lilac Breasted roller

Leopard face vulture

We also noticed  many animals- Tope, Antelope, giraffes,Thompson Gazelle , Elephants.Zebras, Wild beast, mongoose,

We then drove to the Masa River. There we saw many birds, Crocodiles, Hippopotamus  on the river bank. After a long photoshoot , we left  and reached a place where there was 1 lion and 2  lionesses .Here again, we  spent more than 1 hour  recording  videos.

After this as we were  riding further, we saw many many wild beasts  , giraffes, Topes , gazelles..

Then we were lucky to  see a very rare action sequence.

We happened to see 3 cheetahs  walking  on the grasses. Suddenly as we were about to leave the spot, we  saw them chase a small gazelle  and also kill it .They were feeding on the gazelle, taking turns  and we were there seeing them  with awe. We spent another  hour recording video and also watching the scene in real.

Then later we stopped our vehicle  nearby and  ate our packed picnic lunch.

As we were returning back, we saw many vultures, eagles at the kill spot trying to eat the remains of the gazelle.We also spotted the leopards resting   behind long grass .

Then as we were finishing our game drive and were driving towards the hotel.We saw another chase by a lioness.

Initially we  didn't see the lioness as it was behind a rock, but we few gazelles, looking at a direction with full attention hinted there was some danger there.As we waited , we saw a lioness slowly walking  with the intention of catching a prey.As all the gazelles already had run,  it had it's eyes  on the wildbeast and warthog  far away and kept walking towards our jeep to cross the road.But then all the animals ran away, so the lioness also walked away.

We reached the hotel a little early by 5 pm We relaxed, watched few animals from the balcony.Then we went to the restaurant to  have dinner.There was a movie screening about Masai Mara.We watched it for 10 minutes and left to the room.
