Day 8:Cambodia : Roluos Tour, Pub street

Day 8:Cambodia : Roluos Tour, Pub street

We checked out  and left to airport  to catch our flight to  Siem Reap. The check in process in Cambodian Airways was very  tedious. There was no sign anywhere as which counter to check in tillalmost an hour before the flight. So it is of no use to reach the airport very early. After check in, there is a long line  to reach  the immigration counter. So absolutely no time, to go around the airport. We just  directly, went to  gate  to board the flight.

We reached Siem Reap and was directly taken  to Roluos Tour by our guide . Roluos tour is  a tour that covers the area that is called Hariharalaya which was the centre of Khmer civilization and served as a capital to 4 successful kings for more than 70 years. We first visited Lolei temple, which was visited in the middle of a reservoir and it is called island temple. It has 4 towers  and few carvings that are good even today.

Preah Ko which is the sacred bull temple, named  after the bull infront of the  main tower. It has six towers , towers were built for God Shiva and the grandparents of  the King.

Then we visited the 9th Century Bakong  temple, which is dedicated to Hindu God Shiva. It features five levels, with a center tower, and boasts an impressive height of 15 meters. It was the state temple at the center of Hariharalaya. It collapsed at some point but was reconstructed by the French. There is  Buddhist temple nearby- Bakong Pagoda, which is modern and displays interesting murals. The pagoda is in great condition and is still in use.

We had lunch at Hut Natural Restaurant. The ambience was really good. The food was also very tasty and well made. Please read my review on the restaurant here.

We also had tender coconut  water and the coconut pulp. Please don’t miss this when in Cambodia. It is soo big  and also tasty  and sweet.

Finally after visiting all 3 temples, we checked into Damrei Angkor Siem Reap Hotel.

Please read my review  about the hotel here.

Then after a very good rest. Then went for a walk to the Night Street.

This area has many Indian Restaurants and many shops to stroll around. We had lunch at Vanakkam India Indian Restaurant .

Please read my review about the restaurant here.
