Curd Bonda (Thayir Bonda)
I have chosen this first since my husband's favourite is this dish.
Lets get started...
Its a snack item.It can be eaten along with rice especially with biryani, pulao ..
I ingredients are for making 10 bondas.
Bengal gram/Channa dal (Kadalaparappu):1 heaped teaspoon
Curd :1 cup
Maida(all purpose flour) :2 cups
Onions(finely chopped) :1
Green chillies(finely chopped):4-5
Coriander(finely chopped) :3-4 tsp
Salt :1 tsp
Water :1 cup
Corn Flour :2 tsps
Rice flour :2 tsps
Baking Soda :1 pinch
Oil :to fry
Soak the bengal gram in water for some time or you can make the bonda batter and leave it for some time, by when the bengal gram would have become soft.
Either ways u wish.I prefer making the batter and then leaving it for some time whereby the bengal gram would become soft .
If you have no time and wish to make bondas, you can avoid bengal gram.
Add bengal gram, onions, chillies, coriander, maida, rice flour, corn flour, salt, baking soda and mix. Then add curd to it and mix well to bring it to consistency such that it can be made to bondas .This batter need to be a little dropping consistency and not such that you can make balls..If needed add water to it to bring it to that consistency.
Add oil in kadai.Heat the oil and deep fry the bondas till golden brown..
Enjoy the bondas now.It doesnt need any sauce/chutney for dipping.
