Karnataka Road Trip : Day 2 Shimoga Zoo, Sakrebailu elephant camp, Jog falls

We had breakfast at Samrat Ashok restaurant. Then we drove first to Sakrebailu elephant camp. This camp closes early by 12 pm. So we wanted to visit here first. As we entered the camp, the elephants were brought one by one and they were bathed, washed by their caretaker in the river. It was fun watching the elephants playing in the water... One small baby elephant was named Appu after the famous Kannada movie actor Puneet Rajkumar, who had played with the elephant while he visited the camp recently before his  untimely death. All the elephants were brought to the stands after their bath and made to stand in a line. It was so much fun watching them . Each elephant had a board  with the name, age, their emotional characteristics and many more details.

After some time there, we drove to Shimoga Zoo.

We first took the private Tiger and Lion Safari. The safari fees is 150 per person for Bus Safari. For private jeep safari ,its 1500 per jeep.We saw 2 lions,3 tigers,  many grazing animals like deer,Sambar .

Then we went around the Zoo.There were many animals, birds and you may start feeling tired of walking.Hence visit the zoo only if you have ample time.

Then from there we drove to Jog falls. On the way we had lunch at Kadamba restaurant.Taste was not that great.Fish was not cooked well.Chicken was hard.I liked fried rice though.

Jog falls entrance is 10 rupees per  person. Its 50 inr for vehicle. The waterfalls can be seen at 3 different levels. There are 4 waterfall here, they are called Raja, Rani, Rocket and Roarer .

From here we drove to Murudeshwara. We checked in at RNS Residency. This is a very old hotel.Phones, TV in room were not working, walls coming off, door was not closing easily.Only highlight was Sea view Balcony.

We had dinner at the hotel restaurant.Food was good.
