Karnataka Road trip Day 3 : Murudeshwar, Kollur , Udupi

Next day we visited the Shiva temple. It costs 10 inr per person for lift to reach the top level and have the full 360 view of the area, including the sea, beach, temple complex. In the temple tower, there is aatma lingam. Then we visited the  temple  . There is a small exhibit of the story of Murudeshwara aatma lingam, it is 10 inr per person for this .

Then we returned to the hotel, had lunch at the hotel restaurant which was complementary.Later we checked out and drove to Kollur Mookambika temple. Mookambika temple and many other temples , in this part of Karnataka are very similar to Kerala temples

All the temples we visited were not so crowded, and hence we managed to have 2 darshans in all the temples.

After having darshan and collecting some prasad,  we randomly were informed that the lunch is going to be served .We then decided to have lunch at the temple, as its considered a blessing to have food in the temple .The lunch here is part of the devotee donation.Any devotee can  donate money for a day's lunch .The queue moved faster and we reached the dining hall. The food was served in a buffet style and we can  later  sit on the floor or there are few chairs for devotees who have difficulty sitting on the floor.  We were served sambar rice , rasam rice, vegetable, payasam (dessert). After lunch we drove to Udupi.

We reached Udupi by 3 pm.We checked in at Samanvay Boutique hotel. The hotel was modern and new.We were well attended by the staff. We refreshed and took some rest , relaxed, planned some itinerary  for the evening and the next day. MTR Restaurant , the famous one from Bangalore had a branch in the hotel. We had some evening snacks and left to the Udupi Krishna Temple.

We visited the temple. The temple was not at all crowded. We had long darshan of Krishna .Krishna had turned himself to the other side to give darshan to his staunch devotee through a hole. Now everyone can have his darshan  only throught the same hole in the wall.

There are many temples in the  vicinity of the Main Krishna temple , infact just adjacent to the Krishna temple. So we visited these temples, which were mentioned in the brochure provided at the hotel. The temples are ChandraMouleshwarar temple, Anantheshwarar temple ,  Janardhana Temple . There are many shops for small shopping like toys , small eateries , Kitchen essentials, etc. We also had some Bonda soup in Nagari Canteen, opposite Kanaka Gopura in car street.Their famous Curd bonda was over by the time we visited.I had visited this place on recommendation  by few Instagram Food Bloggers Page.We also visited the Palimaru Mutt to seek the blessings of Vijayatheertha Swamiji . He was on mounavrat, he blessed us all.

We drove to Mahakali temple . This was an outstanding temple 1 of a kind. Mahakali image is still fresh in my mind. After visitng the temple we drove back to Udupi Krishna temple complex to have dinner at Ram Bhavan .By 8 pm the restaurant was closed. This again I wanted to visit based on the recommendation from Rocky and Mayur on the Programme, HIGHWAY on MY PLATE .Hence we decided to stop experimenting and instead have dinner at MTR in our Hotel. After dinner I wanted to visit the Diana Hotel where the Gudbud icecream was invented .This hotel was  just down the road and hence not too far away from Samanvay Boutique hotel We had GudBud icecream and also did some Banana chips shopping at Diana Supermarket in the ground floor of  the hotel.
