Morocco Day 7 :Rabat city tour, Casablanca City tour ,Hassan II Mosque
Day 7 :Rabat city tour, Casablanca City tour ,Hassan II Mosque
We first planned to click some pictures in the morning again near the
blue walkways. But since the sun rises late, we knew it wont be possible. Then
also it started raining heavily since early morning. We had breakfast
that was served very late.We checked out and left in rain. The Plan was to
reach Rabat around early afternoon .We skipped lunch this day. Instead drove to
Rabat, which is the capital city and also 1 of the four Imperial Cities. We
first stopped at the complex of Mohammed V’s Mausoleum and the unfinished
Hassan tower. It is one of the three great Almohad Towers. Also there is mosque
in the complex.
After visiting here, we left to a cookie shop Traiteur
Berrada to meet our Moroccan friend.Cookies sold here are too good, so
we bought many boxes for friends and family back home.Cookies cost 200 MAD for
a kilo.We also met our friend for a
short while and left for Casablanca.
In Casablanca, we visited the Mosque, that we missed on the first day. The Mosque is quite vast and big.We couldn’t enter inside the main prayer hall, as it was prayer time. Also foreigners are not allowed inside the hall.It is the largest mosque in Morocco , 2nd largest in Africa and 3rd largest in the world with capacity of 105000 people. The mosque is just near the bank, so it was too windy, that it almost felt like a tornado. The mosque was built with everything from within Morocco except the Italian chandeliers. It took many years to build the mosque with Public Funding, Government, Public Donation, loans, help from Arab Countries.Mosque and Museum has tickets.Mosque guided tours has specific timings. The Minaret is 200+ m and tallest.

We then left from here to reach Kenzi Basma for check in.The hotel seems
to be a little old, but well maintained. We were given a 2 storey room, which
was the first time we stayed in such a room .The ground floor had a sitting
area and toilet and TV.When you climb the stairs up, there is a bedroom with
TV, and a vast bathroom.
Please read my review about the hotel here.

We refreshed and went for a walk
around and came back to hotel for dinner. Dinner was not that great as there
were many non veg options , very less veg food in the dinner buffet. We still had some food.
Day 8
We had to check out by 7 am as the airport was far away and also there
could be traffic on the way.So we had
quick breakfast and checked out from hotel. We reached airport , wished our
guide and driver and left. Thus our
Morocco trip came to an end.We did miss some important places to visit , may be
another time.
