Day 2 :Aushwitz, Krakow

After breakfast we checked out from hotel and travelled towards Aushwitz concentration camp of the Nazis in Poland. It was a four-hour drive from Prague.

Prague facts:

It is the capital of Czech Republic, which was earlier called Czechoslovakia.
Skoda and Bata are 2 of the many famous companies that were started here.

We had few stops on the way for lunch at Olympia Mall called Indika Kuchime and coffee breaks. Also tried Tredelnik for dessert. It is a traditional swirled cinnamon bun with ice-cream and topped with Chocolates.

The concentration camp seemed like a cemetery and gave sad and ghostly vibes. Each of the spots were so deadly to imagine. There were many museums inside the campus, each of them being one of the buildings where the Jewish prisoners were held captive. The hanging area of the Jews was too scary.

The prisoners were killed in different ways hunger, hard work, froze to death, gas chamber and many other ways. Those who tried to escape were killed and their corpses were displayed as a warning sign for others. There were daily roll calls that sometimes lasted for 12 hours, public hangings. Weak and sick prisoners were kept in a separate building, they were killed by injection or in gas chamber if the chances of recovery were less.

All of us felt very emotional after leaving the place. Our hearts were heavy and in no mood to visit other places.

There are few more(four) concentration camps in the same area and also in Nuremberg, Germany.

Then we travelled to Krakow. Warsaw is the capital of Poland. We had dinner at Indian Nepali restaurant called Vatti.

Then we checked into Hotel Centrum for the stay. '
