Day 5: Budapest, Szekesfehervar
After Breakfast, we checked out and left for Budapest city tour.
We visited chain bridge which was built following the London Bridge design. After spending some time, we started climbing the Buda castle. For those who cannot climb there is a funicular. Also, there are few other rides that take you up the castle. The Climb up the castle, was 20 minutes one.
On the top, there are separate tickets for all the attractions like Fisherman bastion, Central Market, Hungarian Parliament. Old Town, Matthias Church, St Stephen Basilica.
We also got to witness a small parade outside the parliament.
There are many places to get a full view of the city from top of the castle.
We climbed down the castle by the lift.
Danube River Cruise was cancelled as the river was full due to recent rains.
We walked to Koronazo Square where we were given few hours for shopping. This place had all souvenirs and also local shopping goods like meat, vegetables, fruits, breads, etc.
From here, we left for Szekesfehervar. There we saw few archeological sites, a Maria Theresa church. As we walked down, we came to the City Square with some cute statues and a musician playing a rarely seen musical instrument.
Checked in at Hotel Annabella , Balotonfured,Hungary. Rabindranath Tagore, the famous poet , who is also the composer of Indian national Anthem, had visited this place and he had planted a tree near the lake, hence the walkway is renamed after him as Tagore promenade. The restaurant in the hotel was also named after him.
Dinner was arranged at the same hotel. We had few dessert options and soup for vegetarians.
