Day 5 : Konjic, Jablanica lake, Mostar, Blagaj, Pocitelj, Kravice Waterfalls
This day we knew it is going to be far and long day. We
started at 10 am from the hotel and reached back at 9 pm, we did miss Blagaj though.
It is advised people stay in Mostar for a night so that all
the places can be covered peacefully.
We reached the Konjic Bridge with 6 arches after an hour ride. Clicked few pictures and
also climbed the small café building to have a view from the top. The bridge is constructed
on the Neretva river.
From here we left for Jablanica lake. We actually had a view
of the lake all along the way and also stopped at few places for pictures .We
also drove around 20 minutes away from the Mostar route to reach an Iron Bridge
.Nearby the bridge we went to a place for Boat ride at 12 pm.This was not
exactly a boat but one with engine and
with many seats. We were told its 80 KM for an hour ride. We asked for a 30
minute ride and it was 50 KM.You could
take snacks and drinks from the restaurant for the ride. We were the only one boat on the
lake and the lake was serene and quite. We clicked beautiful pictures from the top deck of the boat. Since it was
Eid, they also offered us free cake .We had cake and left
from there.
We drove straight to
Kravice Waterfalls which was 2 hour ride
from Jablanica. After buying tickets we walked to the waterfalls .The entrance
ticket is 10 KM/Person. The ticket also includes a Museum Visit. We can take
train from the entrance to go near the waterfall place for 2KM/person similar to the train in Bijambare caves. But
the distance is not very long and can be
easily walked .
You can hire a boat to go very near the falls as there is water and so we can see it only from a distance of 150 meters. After a quick tour we reached Pocitelj at 4 pm.This is an old city built during the Ottoman times. All buildings are made of stones .As you climb up the hill ,there is a Hajji Alija mosque built in 1563.We didn’t visit the mosque as we wanted to make a quick tour due to the time crunch. But I read that the mosque has very good acoustics and the dome and minaret were damaged in 1992 and then repaired.

Also there is GAVRANKAPETAOVIC HOUSE. In 1993 it was set on
fire and vandalized, then repaired. This was the only residential complex of the
16th Century and is the house of the Captains of Pocitelj. After this
we can climb further uphill to see a view of the town from the top.
We then reached Mostar at 4 45 pm.From the parking we walked through the old city
and shops to reach the Iconic Mostar Bridge. There are museums on the way where we can see small movies
about the Bridge. Also there is a Genocide Museum just opposite a beautiful old
Mosque. This bridge was damaged during
the war
and then later repaired .
The River Buna water beneath the bridge is so spectacular. Also
there are few people to collect money and jump from the top of the bridge into the water.
We started our return
journey to Hotel at 5 40 p.m. We stopped for dinner (we skipped lunch as we had no
time) at Kovacavici restaurant. We
ordered Tomato soup, Vegetarian platter
(which had rice, egg, Fries, some fried vegetables), French fries, sunny
side up eggs.Dont do the mistake we did and ask them how many eggs will be in
it. There were 4 sunny side up eggs in the plate.
The restaurant has a beautiful view of River and with the rain that started when we
were driving back, there was so much mist on the lake.
We reached hotel at 9 pm .
